Catering
We have arranged catering onsite at the Convention Centre and established a good rapport with their fantastic, and very experienced caterers who displayed great fortitude when the ways of a Subud World Congress were explained to them!! They quickly grasped the need to meet different dietary requirements as well as the need for speed without long queues. Their Executive Chef Andy Gibb has competed internationally as part of the NZ Culinary Team. They will provide a 3 course buffet style lunch and dinner. Meal tickets can be ordered via your registration form, and there will be limited availability for meal tickets onsite.

Off-Site Choices: Close to the main Congress Centre are any number of cafes and restaurants – heaps of choice.
For meals from eateries close to the Congress Centre prices range from $6 to $20 for a lunch, and $12 to $35 for dinner. That would cover a range from McDonalds / KFC or basic bakery food through to upmarket cafe's / restaurants. A cup of good coffee is around $4.
And hot off the press ... we have several professional Subud members wanting to cater at some of the smaller Congress venues, not in the main Congress Centre, which we will be looking into (and supporting if feasible).
We have been mindful of people on budgets and there are a number of options, such as self-catering apartments, hostels etc in addition to cheap cafes. Supermarkets are reasonably handy with a free shuttle bus that runs past them and the Congress Centre.
Self-catering basic food prices:
Good brown bread $3 - $5; white bread $2-$3; Butter $4 p 500gm; milk $3.50 p 2 lt.; Tea $3.50; Coffee – instant $5; Eggs $5 p doz; Cheese $12 p kg; Cereals $3 -$6 p box;
Fruit – plums,peaches,cherries, nectarines, apricots, strawberries etc will be in season and cheaper still at the roadside stalls, and the same for summer veges.
Drinking Water:
You do not need to buy bottled water here - Christchurch claims it has the best drinking water in the world - with no additives and straight from the aquifers!
Huh – Doesn't get much better than this ..!!!!
