Child Care

For child care at the World Congress we have two suitable facilities, one for casual care at the Salvation Army Building neighbouring the Congress Centre, and the other, for more organised care, at Cathedral Grammar School.  Both sites have adequate, clean and safe areas in which children can be cared for. 

With children from 4 years and under, there is a room in the Salvation Army Building. For children a little older there is a second room next door.  This area is about 50 meters away from the Town Hall, where the Congress events are being held.  It is only about a 2 minute walk away.  This site is suitable for informal, individualised care.

Outside Creche Area

School age Children 5-12

At Cathedral Grammar School, for school age children, there is the main school and also play areas of Cathedral Grammar School.  There is an outdoor area for play and sports on a grass field.  Inside Statham Hall, children can prepare for plays, do artwork, and have creative activities.

Activities for Children in Christchurch

There are many types of activities suitable for children in Christchurch:

More peaceful activities are to simply walk over to the Canterbury Museum, the Art Gallery or the playground area in the Botanic Gardens in beautiful Hagley Park.
Christchurch has many other sources of fun and creativity for children.
