Travelling around the world often can require permission from countries to allow entry. When you want to attend the Subud World Congress in Christchurch, is very important to understand about Visas.
Many Subud members coming to the World Congress will not need an Entry Visa. There are instructions further below about Transit Visas for anyone travelling through the United States or Australia. Please realize that even if you do not need a New Zealand Entry Visa, you may still require a Transit Visa for travelling through the United States or Australia.

TRANSIT VISA - VERY IMPORTANT
Even if you have an Entry Visa to New Zealand, you may still need a Transit Visa if traveling via the U.S. or Australia.
For those countries who generally need visas, we strongly recommend that you avoid traveling through the United States or Australia. There are direct flights to New Zealand via Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Korea, and Buenos Aires. These direct flights bypass any potential difficulty with transit visas. Prices via Sydney though can be much cheaper, so if you decide to take this route simply make sure that your transit visas are dealt with.
APPLICATION FOR A VISA
We strongly suggest that those needing to apply for a Visa, fill out the section within this visa application form entitled Limited Purpose Visa, Section F3, stating the name and dates of the event : 13th Subud World Congress Christchurch Convention Centre 4th to 18th of January 2010, as well as your arrival and departure dates. You must also attach a letter of invitation, please ask us for your invitation letter by going to the organizing team, contact us stating visas, giving us your passport name, address, as well as the name of the subud group you belong to. Once you have received the invitation letter from us, your application and invitation must be sent to the address provided below (specific to each country) and should be accepted. This limited purpose visa only allows you to arrive and depart a few days before and after the congress dates. Do not try and apply for this limited purpose visa if you wish to apply for a longer stay, but in this case the invitation to World Congress will not guarantee your obtaining a visa.
Youth and Working Holidays
There are a number of countries with reciprocal working holidays visas for people aged 18 -30 years. However with some countries there is a quota arrangement per year and applications need to be sent as much as a year in advance. So if some of the young people are looking for ways to finance themselves to congress, and have an adventure, New Zealand is a great place to roam!
To learn more about this, choose your country from the list below.
Please note, that coming to Volunteer at the World Congress does not require a Working Holiday Visa. The working holiday visa is only for those who may choose to look for a paid job in New Zealand and this has nothing to do with the World Congress.
