International Youth Travel Fund
The International Youth Travel Fund has been set up by WSA and MSF to help youth travel to Subud events, and especially to the World Congress. If you wish to apply here is the application form in five languages:
English form French Form Russian Form Spanish Form Indonesian Form
UPDATE
Youth from Congo, Vietnam, Russia, Indonesia, Poland, Moldova, India, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Nigeria, Bangladesh, China as well as Western Europe, Australia and the US are being supported by the International Youth Travel Fund and some are also participating in the YES Quest at Congress.
The fund is currently only short by US$3,000 (after the online art auction raised US$5,481) before reaching the US$30,000 which warrants the matching funds from MSF and GHFP. We continue to receive requests, so donations are still very welcome.
More about youth
Well we know that Subud youth goes from 7 to 77 ! but….here we want to be a little more specific.
The previous page referred to children up to twelve, this page concerns youth, but even within that denomination we consider that there are two groups with very different needs.
On the one hand we have young adolescents from the age of about 12 to 17. We recognize that at this age, young people are starting to want to be independent whilst at the same time, we must provide some sort of surrounding framework. So a team will be specifically focused on the needs of this age group. This will include specific fun and activities, but also support for those who at this stage in their lives, find interacting with others not so easy, often due to certain shyness when outside of their well-known close circles. Obviously there will also be an overlap with the older youth, who often serve as role models for these adolescents
Then we have the youth over 18. Many will already be practising the latihan, but others will not, so we need to balance the activities for this group as well. Some youth will just come to the congress to interact and be together, whilst others are starting to be interested in how our world wide association works and how they can participate in building our common future vision.
With Hamilton and Rhyana, the current International Youth Coordinators, we have already started, through various gatherings and networking around the world, to actively listen to what our youth have to say and also what they have to offer, as well as trying to find out their needs. This congress shall have plenty of space to continue the momentum that we feel is building up in the world.
There will be a venue in Christchurch (similar to the Stadsaele in Innsbruck) called the Caledonian Hall, practically opposite the convention centre. There is the possibility of organising a small restaurant/coffee shop, in the back part of the hall and there is a main hall that can accommodate a couple of hundred people, with a stage for organizing concerts, performances and improvisation ….in the daytime all sorts of creative workshops could take place there.
We hope that, as in Innsbruck, it will be an intergenerational space where everyone can be together in the evenings.
In general there are numerous spaces and venues around the Convention Centre, where creative workshops can be organized, as well as sports events. By going onto the Chat about Congress link or the Get involved link, you can let us know what you hope to find activity wise at the congress, and even better you can propose to participate in the organisation of a specific activity.
IMPORTANT
Please check on the VISA page for useful information on youth working visas.

Hugo and Elysia Weaver have set up a group on Facebook: I am planning to attend the 2010 World Congress in Christchurch! which already has 313 members, so sign up to be regularly updated on exchanges amongst the youth.
